The ironies of Obama's stimulus and omnibus bills are that they stand side-by-side with his moral appeal that we must all act responsibly.  When private debt got us all into this mess, exactly how is government debt supposed to extract us?   Obama says that all spending, even deficit spending is stimulus!  He is going to save America the same way the captain of the Titanic saved his ship, by making the hole in the hull bigger.  It didn't work quite so well for the Titanic, but then we are all sailing in unchartered waters! Really??  Economically we are all in the same waters we have been in many times before.

          Obama's right hand man, Immanuel, sees an opportunity in every crisis.  Like the pick-pockets all over Europe, a little diversion is all that is needed to pick the public's pocket.  Surprisingly, the American pocket has now been picked, and every form of subversion will be passed into law within the next few weeks.  Many of the laws will not be read or understood completely by anybody, although our representatives in Washington will be led like the Pied Piper led the rats to their death.  So long as our elected representatives individually extract their billions in earmarks in the dark of night, they will lead us all blindly to the death of the nation's economy. 

          This impending death is appropriately captured by the senior Senator Schumer, who says "the American people don't care."  Most of the American people are so busy surviving during difficult times that they rely upon their representatives to behave in responsible ways.  To assert that the American people don't care reveals the insular nature of Washington, our representatives, and the vast division that exists between the people and their government. 

          We are well along the road to government of the government, by the government, and for the government.  Hello!  Isn't that written into the U.S. Constitution?

          Accepting the inevitable laws which will suddenly emerge from Washington, and knowing that the evil rich will be unable to pay off Obama's debt for the next generation, exactly how does the Obama administration plan to pay for such gargantuan debt.  Knowing that they will act responsibly, you can bet there is a plan.  Viola!  Here it is:

          Tucked neatly into the small print of hundred of pages of bureaucratic regulations, which the public and most legislators refuse to read, is the answer.  It is called cap and trade, a bureaucratic ponzi scheme based upon a consensus of the EPA's cult of scientists.  Cap and trade is destined to become our next Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and guarantee the survival of a healthy planet for the next million years.  (Interested readers  may wish to review EPA Science:Cow Tax, Consensus of Turkeys, and The Carbon Demons).

          Cap and trade neither caps anything, nor does it trade anything visible.  It is a stealthy revenue scheme, a witches brew, currently being cooked up in Washington to generate the kind of money that will fund Obama's programs.  God forbid that anybody refers to this new revenue stream as a tax designed to bail Obama's irresponsible government out of debt.

          Cap and trade is born of another crisis, the global warming crisis.  The global warming crisis has been brewing in the minds of environmentalists for many years.  Suddenly they reached a critical mass, beyond which we all know a world-wide catastrophe is virtually upon us.  Run for your lives!  Before we all roast in hell, we must act quickly to avert imminent disaster.  The sky is falling, and is filled with carbon that is heating the earth and killing all of God's creatures. 

          This imminent catastrophe is unrelated to the earth's natural temperature variation, they say.  It is caused directly by man, the evil creature who personally breathes carbon into the air, and burns fossil fuel in his economy to heat and cool his excessively large homes.  Man has created this carbon monster, and unless it is controlled, we will all roast in hell, at least by the year 2100, or 2500, or at some precise time in the distant future. 

          Because the government, through the Environmental Protection Agency, believes it is responsible to protect every human, every creature, and the planet we live on, their scientists will determine exactly how much carbon is permissible on earth in the atmosphere.  With the simply stroke of the bureaucratic pen carbon is declared a pollutant, even though it is a vital part of every living organism.  Every living thing would die without carbon, yet our Environmental Protection Agency see fit to declare carbon a pollutant!  Fantastic!  Man, who lives on and with carbon, declares himself a pollutant?  Man is polluting the planet.  Hello!  Isn't that what the EPA has said all along?  Man is polluting the environment, and he must be stopped!

          Cap and trade is the answer.  According to the Wall Street Journal (An Inconvenient Tax, 2/27/2009) the revenue from the cap and trade tax will grow like Topsy.   It is difficult to estimate the revenue generated in the next year or so, because the specific rules have yet to be worked out in the back offices of Washington.  By 2012 the Cap and Trade regulation through the EPA will produce $78.7 billion in new revenue.  This grows to $237 billion in the next two years.  By 2019 it grows to $646 billion dollars in the new non-tax tax.  As you can see this is approaching real money.  All this money is called climate revenues, not a tax.

          And who, exactly, pays this miraculous, new revenue stream. Obama and his EPA associates would like you to believe that this giant Ponzi scheme will be paid for by polluting industries, businesses, corporations, farmers, and all those evil rich folks who do harm to the environment and the health of the planet's creatures.  The EPA has even written proposed regulations which, through interpretation, may be used to place a tax on raising cows, polluters of the earth.  These taxes will be slid under the carpet, and the public at large will awaken from their coma to discover that Obama and the EPA have already enacted them through department regulations.

          Of course, Obama and his EPA associates are a giant black hole when it comes to economics.  All these taxes (revenues) are passed directly from those paying to the consumer, the public at large, the man on the street.  These increases for gas and drugs and groceries and roads and cars will be passed directly on to the rich, the poor, and the middle class.  The increased cost of everything will ripple through the economy like waves on a pond, and nobody will be immune.  These increased family costs will hit the poor the hardest, and the idea that 95% of the population will not pay increased taxes is a bald-faced lie.  Everybody will pay an arm and a leg in new taxes through these new climate change revenues. 

          The first dirty little secret here is that Obama and his henchmen at the EPA believe that so long as energy costs remain low there is no incentive to convert to other energy and eliminate our dependency on middle eastern oil.  By punishing the consumer through high energy costs for coal, oil, electric power, natural gas, and heating oil, the renewable energy sources will become more competitive, and more viable.  They are reluctant to admit to punishing the entire population with a new tax, but 100% of the American population will pay an exorbitant tax on Obama's energy and environmental policies.  When corn is converted to fuel for vehicles there is no savings in energy, but the supply of this food for the starving masses is eliminated. 

          Dirty little secret number two is that rather than pay debt with the added carbon revenues, most of it will be paid directly to subsidize workers in what Obama calls tax credits.  These are direct welfare payments to folks who actually pay little or nothing in taxes.  If based upon income, or unemployment, or poverty, or indebtedness or lack of an education an individual is not doing very well, Obama and company will hand out checks, no questions asked.  It is this form of rewarding the poor and punishing the rich that will drive a taxpayer revolt, move work off-shore, and drive investment money to economies where taxes are low.  It is clearly not a way to stimulate investment in America, and rebuild jobs for American workers.

          Carbon cap and trade will pay for none of Obama's national debt.  A small percentage, according to the Wall Street Journal, will subsidize renewable energy and alternative fuels.  The balance will be paid for through inflation of the dollar.  As the price of everything increases, the result is buying less of everything.  Printing money to pay for debt decreases the value of the dollar by shrinking what it will buy.  Eggs will rise to $5.00 a dozen and gasoline will rise to $6.00 or $8.00 a gallon by the time Obama leaves office.  This will leave the man on the street holding the bag, while his grandchildren will struggle with debt for generations to come.  And this cap and trade is solving the problem!  Hello!

          The real nonsense is that under cap and trade, the government sells permission slips to pollute.  This amounts to a get out of jail card  in exchange for an increase in the price of everything.  It says "you can continue to pollute this year and next year, so long as you pay the government a license fee to do business. The EPA's cult of scientists will calculate what you owe from your carbon footprint."  All the scientists need to know is the amount of revenue the government needs to cover debt, and the scientific formulas can be adjusted precisely to generate whatever amount the government needs to pay current expenses.  This Ponzi scheme has been in full operation since Social Security was enacted. 

          The deception in this plan is magnificent.  We have spent so much time explaining how the government will generate revenue (not taxes) to cover debt, that we completely forgot the purpose of the program is to cap carbon and prevent global warming.  To cap means to keep the absolute number of particles per million of carbon in the atmosphere below a specified limit.  This will be set by the cult of government scientists.  In reality, the only cap will come from making fossil fuels so expensive that nobody, except the rich, will be able to afford cars, heat or air condition their homes, and buy an occasional luxury item. 

          Wake up America!  Allowing EPA scientists to determine tax levels is putting the fox in charge of the henhouse.  We already put Barney Frank and Chris Dodd in charge of regulating the housing market, and we see where that got us.  One must ask: "Is government control the solution, or is government control the problem?"  King Obama has already answered this question for all his subjects. 

          One beauty of magic formulas is that government scientists can decide the cap is too high, and should be lowered to enhance the health of the earth's creatures.  This will automatically increase the revenue flowing to the government, and by stealth increase the cost of living to every family in America.  And Obama says that 95% of the population will pay no increased taxes, while slipping an exorbitant revenue under every American's carpet.  It is Obama's magic carpet. 

          Oh Yes!   That was Cap and Trade.  The government, in this Ponzi scheme,  is actually capping nothing.  It is selling permits to pollute.  So long as the revenue rolls in, who in government will complain?  The more carbon we burn the greater will be the government revenue, not taxes.  Our politicians will smile as they earmark the public into the poor house, and exempt themselves from the realities they impose upon the rest of us.  Our politicians are doing the exact same thing in government that home ownership through debt achieved in the past few years.  The next crisis is government debt.  Take the debt "off-budget", and who will be the wiser?

           Only one thing is perfectly clear from the above:  The greatest single source of pollution on this planet is the crap that is generated by our representatives in both parties in Washington.  Fortunately they are down-wind from America's struggling masses, and the noxious odor is effectively dispersed, like all greenhouse gasses, before it reaches our brothers in Europe.
